Keep America Beautiful recently launched a national campaign to get people talking about littering. iLivehere, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, brought the Littering is Wrong Too campaign to the Quad Cities. We want to make sure people know just how wrong it is to litter. The Littering is Wrong Too campaign uses a unique and light-hearted approach to get attention and be remembered. It links littering with other wrongdoings, like kicking your grandma.

March & April: Wrap Trees with Living Lands & Waters
Living Lands & Waters will be giving away 100,000 free oak seedlings in March & April as part of their MillionTrees Project! In order to give away healthy trees, they need volunteers to wrap the tree’s roots in a damp medium and place them in bags. Xstream Cleanup 2011 will be held Saturday, August 13 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in Bettendorf, Davenport, LeClaire and McCausland, Iowa and East Moline, Milan, Moline, Rock Island and Silvis, Illinois.

Last year, Xstream Cleanup volunteers removed approximately 50,573 pounds of debris from area waterways and illegal dumping sites. Cleanups were held at 42 locations in the Quad City Area. For more information about Xstream Cleanup visit www.xstreamcleanup.org.
